The School of Arts and Sciences seeks to provide excellent liberal arts education at the master's level to prepare students to become intellectual, professional and moral leaders. The Master of Arts or Master of Science degree is offered in the disciplines of the fine arts, humanities, natural sciences, mathematics, social sciences and behavioral sciences. The M. S. program in Biological Sciences: Anesthesia is accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia . New programs in Criminal Justice, Information Design and Computer Informational Technology were recently developed.

The broad range of programs reflects the creativity and diversity of the faculty. Each student receives a challenging planned program of study, often individualized according to the student's needs and goals. Faculty are involved in research and other scholarly activities, both on campus and in the community and the state. Students have the opportunity to work with faculty in their research and to collaborate on projects relevant to their study. Certain programs require supervised clinical practica or field study experiences.

Programs in the School of Arts and Sciences prepare students to enter specific careers or to pursue further graduate education in professional schools or Ph.D. granting institutions. Many academic programs within the School of Arts and Sciences provide the major for a number of M.S. degrees in education and for the post-baccalaureate certification program for secondary school teachers.
